Guadalajara is a premier city of Jalisco, a state in Mexico. The city is located at the heart of the state, and situated right around the western-Pacific side of Mexico. With its huge population of 1,579,174, it has placed itself as the second most populated city in all of Mexico. Considering the said population, the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area has earned another ranking of being the most populated metropolitan area, right after Mexico City.

Boasting a Spring-like climate, Guadalajara is an ideal place to relax and enjoy. It inherits its name from Guadalajara, a city in Spain. The name originates from an Arabic word for "Valley of Stones" or "River that runs between rocks" if translated literally. Due to its climate, the city has played host to numerous international events. One of the city´s first events was the Cumbre Iberoamericana which was held in 1991. Other events include El Caribe-Union Europea in 2004, Encuentro Internacional de Promotores y Ggestores Culturales in 2005, and the much awaited Panamerican Games, which will be held in 2011.

Due to its many successful events, Guadalajara has earned the name of American Capital of Culture for 2005, as well as the 2006 Ciudad Educadora or Educator City.
