Lubbock is an American city located in the state of Texas. The city can be found at the northwestern part of the state in a region historically known as the Llano Estacado. Lubbock serves as the county seat of Lubbock County and has a population of 199,564 as of 2000 which made the city the 90th largest city in the United States and the 11th largest in Texas. Lubbock city hosts the largest free festival in Texas called the Independence Day festival. Some of the attractions located in Lubbock include the National Ranching Heritage Center, the Southwest Collection, the Depot District, Silent Wings Museum, the Science Spectrum, and Mackenzie Park to name a few.
