Tampa sits on the Gulf Coast and is one of the cities in the state of Florida. It is the seat of the Hillsborough County, which also covers the neighboring Clearwater and St. Petersburg regions. With a humid sub-tropical climate, the city draws visitors to its beaches and inland parks.

Gasparilla Pirate Festival is the most well-known event held in Tampa. Otherwise known as the Mardia Gras of Tampa, the event showcases a musical and cultural presentation of a Spanish invasion legend. Around 400,000 people attend the affair held every January, with the bay area filled with boats and the downtown area filled with tourists and the local audience.

The 165 beaches and parks in Tampa are a common destination for tourist. During the peak tourist season, the white sand beaches make for a good relaxation and sports venue even after the early evening when the Tampa Bay shimmers from a mystical sunset.

Tampa's nightlife is mostly dominated by dance clubs like the Tampa Hyde Park Cafe, the city being a vacation destination. Artist appearances are regular, where jazz, rock or even blues music are performed. Restaurants like the Outback Steakhouse, Beef O' Brady's and other gastronomical venues tend to be clustered near the downtown bay area and up north near the regional park.

Tampa culinary scene generally tells of the heritage of the city. At one time, the city was dubbed as the "Cigar Capital of the World", welcoming Spanish and Cubans immigrant cigar factory workers. Today, their influences can be seen on the traditional Tampa menu of boliche, fried plantains, black bean soup and picadillo.
